Bonjour a tous,
voila je cherche a installer les pilotes de ma geforce 420go, pour cela j'ai donc installer les nouveaux pilotes, modifier modprobe.conf ainsi que le nv dans xorg.conf et ensuite il m'est impossible de redemarrer X, il me dis qu'il n'as pas trouve d'ecran et qu'il ne peut pas charger le module nvidia?
De plus lors de l'installation il m'a dis que mon kernel utilisait rivafb et que ce module peut entrer en conflit avec le module nvidia, si quelqu'un sait comment desactiver ce module...
je vous met aussi le fichier Xorg.0.log

    Bonjour,

    C'est le fichier /etc/modprobe.preload auquel il faut rajouter la ligne nvidia, et pas modprobe.conf (du moins c'est ce que j'ai fait et ca marche sans pb)

        D'abord, est-ce bien un driver que tu as téléchargé sur le site de NVIDIA et nonpas les RPMS mdk ?
        Si oui, il faut (je donne toute la manip) :
        1) ouvrir un terminal, se logger en root, et passer en mode texte avec la commande suivante :
        $ init 3
        2) lancer l'install :
        $ sh /chemin/NVIDIA-linux...

        3) il va te dire que tu as rivafb dans le noyau, peu importe, sauf si tu as aussi une carte riva sur ton pc, sinon tu peux continuer

        4) il te dit qu'il ne trouve pas d'interface pour ton noyau et propose soit de la télécharger, soit de la construire, télécharger ne marche pas, il faut choisir "build". Pour cela il faut auparavant que les sources du noyau soient installées (le rpm est kernel-source-version de ton noyau, version que tu obtiens en faisant uname -a et qui ressemble à 2.6.10...).

        5) Tout va bien ?
        6) change xorg.conf et modprobe.preload comme tu as fait
        7) install le module en mémoire :
        $ modprobe nvidia
        8) fais un test : tape startx, si tu vois le logo nvidia et ça démarre, c'est tout bon, sinon, revérifie les étapes préccédentes.
        9) pour finir, referme kde (ou gnome), par le menu ou par ctrl+alt+backspace et repasse en mode graphique :
        $ init 5 (en étant root)

        Voilà chez moi ça a suffit.
