Forum Linux.debian/ubuntu Résolution 1920*1200 sur une via/sg3 non supporté.

Bonjour,

Jeune linuxien padawan, je vien d'installer une distibution Debian etch. J'utilisait avant ceci une sarge en mode console(serveur http+proxy+samba).
Mais aujourd'hui, j'ai décidé de faire le grand sut, je voudrais passer à linux desktop près de nombreuses et loyals années envers microsoft (qui lui n'as pas été très loyal envers moi -_-).

Voici ma configuration :
shuttle pcx chipset via km400 (sempron 2500+)
cg : via/sg3
Ecran : Acer 24' résolution max (1920*1200)
Debain Etch

J'ai installer xfce4 afin de ne pas trop bouffer en ressource.
Fervant amateur de vidéo et de son, j'i réussi a bien fire fonctionner le 5.1.
Le problème que je rencontre actuelement proviens plutot de l'image.
apres installation de xorg, lors de sa configuration ma carte graphique n'est pas reconnu. Je lui spécifie alors ses caractéristique (résolution que je désire 1920*1200 ansi que la profondeux.)
Ce qui est génant c'est lorsque je lance startx et que je démarre xfce, ma résolution est de 1600*1200.
Quatres question me vienne à l'esprit :
-Est-ce que quelqu'un pourrait me dire si ma carte graphique supporte une tel résolution (je n'ai pas réussi à trouver cet information sur le site de via)
-Je sais qu'il est possible d'installer les drivers unichrome. par contre si il faut recompiler le noyaux (la peur de tout les débutant), je vous avous ne l'avoir jamais fait ... Pourriez-vous m'orienter sur cettte solution.
-Si ma carte graphique actuel ne supporte pas une telle résolution quel type de crate me conseillez vous d'acheter (principalement pour la vidéo et quand même quelques jeux ...)
-Ce que je ne corend as non plus, c'est que toute les résoution qui me sont proposé par xce sont des résolution 4/3 alors que mon écran est un 16/10 ?

    est-ce que tu pourrais donner le modele exact de ta cg parce que CG Via ça aide pas trop en fait :).

    sinon, si tu veux prendre une carte graphique, prend n'importe quelle carte nvidia, c'est ce qu'il y a de mieux sous linux. Les cartes ATI sont aussi supportés mais les drivers proprio ATI sont de moins bonne qualité que les drivers proprio nvidia.

      le modele de mon shuttle est un SK 43G et la carte graphique, il y a marqué VIA UniChrome KM400.

    Est-tu sur que tes Horiz/Vert correspondent bien a ton écran ?

    Le plus simple est d'abord d'essayer sans les HorizSync et VertRefresh, ni les Modes de la section Screen. Et puis la, sois ça marche (en général X reconnait les modes supportés par l'écran comme un grand), sois ça marche pas (Étonnant non?). Alors dans ce dernier cas, tu va voir ce que viens gueuler X dans ton /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Et si tu comprends pas pourquoi X est pas content, viens toujours le répéter ici, on y verra ptet plus clair :-D.

      Bon, apres moulte tentative, le résultat n'est toujours pas probant. J'ai éffectivement essayer d'enlever mes Horiz/Vert, mais aucun changement apparent.
      Par contre tu parle de Modes dans la partie screen. mais je n'est pas l'impression d'en avoir d'apres le fichier que je vous ai montré. Est-ce que je me trompe ?
      Au passage, j'ai essayeé avec les valeur de mon écran (trouvé sur le net) : 75*80 Mhz mais la non plus aucun changement ...

      Serait-il possible que cela vienne de mes driver vidéo ou pas ?

        Quand je parles de tes modes, je parles des lignes 'Modes "1920x1200"' qui ne sont pas forcément nécessaire (quand tout marche bien). Le principe, c'est qu'en général, avec les moniteurs modernes, tu n'a rien besoin de faire: X demandes au moniteur ses caractéristiques, dont en particulier les modes supportés par l'écran, et donc se servir de ses infos pour l'affichage. Donc en gros, la technique habituelle est de ne rien mettre pour les Horiz/Vert ni les Modes, et en général ça passe.

        Bien sur, c'est le meilleur des mondes. Si quand tu fais ça et que ça passe pas, il te faut tout indiquer. Tu devrait trouver ça dans la doc de ton moniteur (et c'est pas un truc comme 75*80 MHz mais plutot un range de fréquence horizontale, plus un range pour les fréquence verticales). Tu dis ne pas l'avoir trouvé sur le net, mais du doit surement l'avoir dans la doc papier fournie avec le moniteur. Bon, un indice: page 10, Specifications, video, Multi-mode supported tu dois avoir: Horizontal Frequency: 24 ~ 80 KHz et Vertical Frequency: 49 ~ 75 Hz (cherches un peu, manuel dispo en 30s sur le site de acer...) donc met deja 24-80 pour HorizSync et 49-75 pour VertRefresh.

        Ensuit, si tu veux voir ce qui cloche, regardes dans ton /var/log/Xorg.0.log, tu devrais avoir des lignes du style

          Merci THE_ALF_ , je pense avoir trouvé pourquoi.
          En effet apres plsusieurs essai avec et sans les modes, j'ai remarqué deux choses :
          D'une part que mon écran était bien reconnu sans les modes.
          La seconde chose je l'ai trouvé en regardant la documentation de mon écran, en effet il est spécifié une pixel foreq. (Mhz) de 193 pour une résolution de 1920 1200. Sachant que le modeline le plus haut affiché dans le fichier Xorg.0.log est :
          II) VIA(0): Modeline "1600x1200" 162.00 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync
          et que quelque ligne plus haut j'ai trouvé:

          ainsi que des :
          ... mode clock 175.5MHz exceeds DDC maximum 170MHz
          j'en déduis que ma carte graphique ne supporte pas un bande passante aussi forte. Je me trompe ?

          Je pense que la bande passante de mon écran doit être supérieur, puis que sous windows, je réussisait à avoir de tel résolution.

          Bon, certe mon raisonnnement est un peu bancale puisque les modeline ou je trouve ses erreurs son ceux en 1600 sur 1200. Mais bon, je susppose que l'on peut avvoir plusieurs modeline pour une meme résolution...

            Effectivement, les modes 1920*1200 son bien scannés mais marqués comme non supportés. Le seul truc, c'est que je m'attend à un "vrefresh/hsync out of range" pour les modes non supportés par l'écran, et à un "mode clock xyzMHz exceeds DDC maximum" pour les modes non supportés par la carte. Ici, tous les modes 1920*1200 sont marqués "bad mode clock/interlace/doublescan" ou "no clock available for mode"... et j'avoue que je ne sais pas trop ce que ça veut dire.

            A priori, je dirais effectivement que ce mode (encore assez peu courant il me semble?) et trop élevé pour ta cartes, mais je ne saurais le garantir à 100%.

      J'ai tester plusieur modeline (fait aussi une recherche sur la définition ;) ) mais aucun changement. Si j'ai bien compris chaque écran à son proppre modeline. J'ai essayer de le généré via un site, malheureusement je ne trouve que tres peu de documentation sur mon ecran (acer 2416ws).

      De plus, toute les docs qui se réfère à modeline ne parle que de xfree86 et pas de xorg. Est-ce normal ?
