Avec la 7.3.4 tout fraichement dans les bacs, et la branche de dev en feature freeze depuis assez longtemps, la 7.4 béta devrait sortir dans pas longtemps (question de jours).
Tu pourras alors les faire s'affronter toutes les deux sur le même hardware et le même OS...
Vrai, un serveur de news privé en entreprise peut se révéler très utile... c'est d'ailleurs une des fonctionnalités de Exchange (du news-like) accessible par Outlook.
De même, la messagerie instantanée est boudée en entreprise, parceque ça fait pas sérieux, gadget, gamin, ça ressemble aux SMS, etc... or dans la communauté du Libre on a Jabber qui se propose de standardiser toutes les messageries instantanées autour des standards XML... http://www.jabber.org/protocol/(...)
A mon sens, un groupware pourrait sans problème intégrer un lecteur de news et un client Jabber.

dans ces conditions, comment veux-tu que les utilisateurs usuels changent de système d'exploitation...

Ce sont des signaux Unix : des messages à envoyer au programmes à partir de la ligne de commande (ou un autre prog).
Si un prog est prévu pour recevoir et manipuler les signaux, alors il les intercepte et les traite, sinon il meurt...
Donc si un prog n'est pas écrit pour intercepter le signal SIGTERM, alors un kill -15 prog tuera le process autant que kill -9, pas plus pas moins.
Corollaire : kill n'est pas un méchant programme de tuage de process, mais un prog de communication... ;-)
