La machine électrique diminue l'effort de pression sur les touches et sur les déplacements de chariot
En fait l'aspect électrique est pour apporter du confort d'appui, mais il comme il y a encore le panier et les marteaux alors les soucis liés eux demeurent.
La « machine à boule » : En 1961, cette machine à écrire développée et lancée par IBM (sous la dénomination d'IBM Selectric typewriter). Elle reprend le concept de la machine dite « Blickensderfer » (datant de la fin du XIXe siècle) et réintroduit la possibilité de modifier la fonte de caractères en installant une boule amovible contenant la police voulue. Le modèle « Selectric Typewriter » remporte un énorme succès commercial et domine le marché durant deux décennies. Le chariot ne bouge plus latéralement mais une boule se déplace devant le papier. La fonte de caractères est interchangeable en quelques secondes par échange de la boule. Le papier, qui ne bouge pas, reste impeccable. Comme la boule (en plastique) est légère, la machine reste très silencieuse.
Ce principe se retrouvera dans les imprimantes à marguerite ou à tulipe, et n'ont pas (ni ne peuvent avoir) le problème de marteaux qui s'entrechoquent/croisent… Une évolution technique a donc solutionné le problème.
Tout les grands constructeurs ont eu ce type de machine à leur catalogue. Par exemple 252651001/Carrera chez Olympia, l'AX-15 chez Brother et GX6750 chez Brother. On retrouve cela aussi dans certains jouets comme le Type'n'Print de Mehano par exemple.
Plus près de nous, on a les machines à écrire électroniques aussi qualifiées d'électriques par certaines personnes. Elles vont utiliser les autres formes d'impact (tulipe et matrice) et une ligne LCD (la saisie est gardée dans une mémoire tampon et on peut la corriger tant qu'on n'a pas appuyé sur la touche d'envoi…)
Voir par exemple le VW 2100 chez Philips, le Typestar 10-II de Canon, et d'autres.
Bref, selon ce qu'on entend par électrique et/ou la période, la machine à écrire électrique a mis son grain de sel.

Moi je ne suis pas désolé pour mon cousin, qui tient le même discours que Z et s'il avait une arme tuerait simplement toute personne qui ne pense pas aussi bien que lui. Par contre, je suis navré pour mon pote qui est plus modéré est a docilement suivi les recommandations gouvernementales. Le point commun entre les deux ? Ils sont en soins intensifs (i.e. insuffisance respiratoire) après leur troisième dose, et sans facteur de comorbidité (en tout cas à ma connaissance, mais la fin de trentaine pour le premier et milieu de quarantaine pour le second.) Ils n'auraient pas pu être dans pire situation sans le vaccin. Mais attention à ne pas me faire dire ce que je ne dis pas : ce sont des histoires personnelles et je me garde de tirer quelque conclusion (ne déplaise aux sachants ici et ailleurs !)

Comme déjà répondu, Plan9 n'est pas un Unix : ne respecte pas vraiment, à dessein, la single UNIX specification.

GNU/Linux est bien un Unix-like dans l'esprit… Mais GNU a toujours indiqué dès le début dans son acronyme ne pas vouloir faire un clone bien que partant de ce système comme référence. Bien que ayant toujours eu à cœur de respecter POSIX dans ses implémentations, ils s'offrent le luxe de ne pas s'y conformer par défaut (voir POSIXLY_CORRECT par exemple.)

Après, comme tu le fais remarquer, UNIX (que j'écris toujours en majuscules pour ma part) est une marque déposée (initialement de AT&T mais maintenant la propriété de l'Open Group…) Les systèmes Unix-like (parfois abrégé Unix tout court, et que pour ma part j'écris comme un nom/titre –début en majuscule et le reste en minuscules) ou, en français de type Unix, ou plus généralement de la « famille Unix » ; reprennent les principes (architecturaux, fonctionnels et organisationnels) ainsi que le mode de fonctionnement légué par le Bell Labs. Cela se résume actuellement à l'adhérence aux standards/normes POSIX et sUs.
Les BSD ne sont pas plus ou moins Unix-like que les GNU/Linux ou les GNU/Hurd (par contre, effectivement, le fonctionnement par défaut fait parfois entorse à POSIX à moins de poser des variables d'environnement POSIXLY_CORRECT et similaires…)
